After a 6 month persistent lower back injury and many visits to Physio and Osteo I was referred to Soma Pilates by my Osteo as part of my rehab. I was reluctant at first as I had always seen Pilates as a girly type exercise and didn’t think it could help me fix my back.
My first session was all about trying to loosen up the muscles around my lower back. I felt better after the first session than any visit to the Physio.
With weekly Pilates classes and take home exercises my back feels great. I am now using Pilates to increase my core strength and prevent further injury.
After a long period of injury it is such a relief to finally find something that works for me.  I would strongly encourage anyone who has had a long term back injury to try this method. I am now totally converted and look forward my sessions with Elise and Lee every week.

Elise is great! I've learnt a lot since training with her and have a much greater awareness of my posture as a result of Elise's instruction on the human skeletal and muscular system which, I believe is very important if you want to get the most out of your workout. In fact I'm able to execute exercises with a lot more accuracy now and can quite often feel the difference immediately.
Elise has also given me a lot more confidence in my physical capabilities by presenting challenges at a comfortable pace and in so doing, keeps me motivated to do more!
